The ADATA XPG SX900 series of solid state drives comes with the promise of extremely high SATA III (6Gbps) speeds, and simple and effective operation system thanks to the updated SandForce SF-2281 VB2 controller.
Our test unit, the XPG SX900 256GB SSD has rated sequential read/write speeds of 550/530MBps and 85K IOPS at 4K. TRIM support obviously comes in standard and is supported by all OS X 10.6.8 onwards, as well as Windows 7 & 8, and Linux 2.6.28 onwards.
Looks wise the ADATA XPG SX900 256GB looks eerily similar to the Apotop S3A 256GB SSD I tested last month. Included in the packaging is a 3.5-inch bracket along with a code for Acronis True Image HD and 3 years warranty.
For testing our resident testbed was used:
Performance wise the ADATA XPG SX900 is one of the fastest SSDs I’ve tested in our office, with an equally impressive 4K write speeds. The PCMark 7 score also reaffirms my faith in the overall performance of the XPG SX900 SSD. At a competitive price, the ADATA XPG SX900 256GB SSD is one of the best on the market, and if you happen to come across it, you can pick it up without hesitation.
After making the jump from auditing to editing, Taimoor loves to burn up hardware in the name of science. When he's not doing that, you'll find him nuking in DOTA 2 or engineering in TF2.
