Every once in a while, you come across an app that takes a really simple idea, and adds that little something to your smartphone experience that makes you wonder why this isn’t a part of all mobile phones. Gravity Screen on Android is one such app.
It’s sole purpose is to make the power/lock button on your phone obsolete. You put the phone down on your desk or in your pocket and it locks your phone. You take it out of your pocket or pick it up and the screen comes back alive without the need to press the power button. It does this monitoring the orientation of the device through the gravity sensor.
When your phone is pointing downward by its top, below a certain angle, it’s likely to be out of use. In this situation the proximity sensor is activated to determine if it is covered. If yes, the screen turns off because probably you placed the phone into your pocket or onto a table.
