In an event today in New York City (and another one in London), HTC has finally revealed its latest flagship, the HTC One M8. While maintaining mostly the unibody design of the original HTC One, they’ve managed to make the smartphone about 70% metal along with upgraded specifications.
The smartphone will feature the latest Snapdragon 801 2.3 GHz processor, along with 2 GB of RAM. It will have a 5-inch full HD 1080p display plus HTC’s BoomSound speakers, which they claim is 25% louder. The Duo Camera, which was shown in previous leaks, was also confirmed. It will let you shift focus between subjects when taking an image – and it still uses HTC’s UltraPixel camera which they debuted with the original HTC One. It will also include a microSD card slot – a feature that was lacking in the original HTC One.
The HTC One (M8) will have a 2600 mAh battery, and will have an Extreme Power Saving mode feature much like the same one found on the Samsung Galaxy S5. HTC claims it can give a standby time of up to two weeks.
The HTC One (M8) will run Android 4.4.2 KitKat with Sense 6 built-in – or 6th Sense – as they call it. Sense 6 has been rebuilt from scratch and includes a plethora of new features including FitBit compatibility which you can directly access on BlinkFeed. Sense 6 will also appear as an update to existing HTC One users later this spring. The new HTC One (M8) will be available in the UAE this April.
