BlackBerry seems to continue to plod onward, despite alarm bells ringing from all sides. The company’s much hyped BB10 devices launched with great fanfare and excitement, but the buzz soon died down. Now reports are coming in that the company’s first QWERTY BB10 device, the Q10, isn’t doing so great.
A report in The Wall Street Journal this week cited a phone retailer in Canada who said that the Q10 was barely moving off shelves, and that some customers who bought the Q10 were eventually returning them. Another executive at a Canadian phone carrier reiterated the Q10′s lack of appeal, saying that the Q10 barely generated any interest when it hit the market.
BlackBerry had launched the Z10 and Q10 earlier this year, and had hoped that both handsets would show skeptics that the company is still determined to remain in the market. But with official handset sales not being available from Blackberry, it’s hard to say just how successful the company’s lineup of BB10 devices has been.
