Noticing extreme lag in your online games, or that your, ahem, P2P downloads are crawling at bits and bytes? Don’t restart your router or curse your luck, it’s not just you. Etisalat today announced they are performing maintenance on their Internet links and some form of interruptions are expected.
“Due to maintenance work being done on our Internet links, some of our eLife Internet customers might notice some change on their Internet. We apologies for the inconvenience, our teams are working around the clock to restore normal traffic. We are expecting work to be completed by August 29th or earlier,” the telcom said on their official Facebook page.
Browsing speed is largely unaffected and even normal HTTP downloads are fine, however users are largely reporting lag in online games and slow download speeds from certain online stores and on specific Internet protocols. I have been trying to download a 2.9GB demo from the PSN Vita store and it’s so slow my Vita simply refuses to download it after a while.
Knowing Etisalat, I wouldn’t count on the service returning to normal on August 29. But we will keep you updated on this, so watch this space.
