Even though it likes to call itself a technology company, Uber has been shaking the transport business worldwide with their app allowing you to order your ride with prompt delivery. It was launched in Dubai earlier this year with Abu Dhabi and Qatar added. However it looks like Uber and other companies will have to deal with a problem in France. Starting 1st of January 2014, private companies like Uber will have to wait 15 minutes to pick up a passenger.
This is done to help the old-fashioned taxi industry in France where Taxi owners pay a hefty fee for their licence and expectedly did not take the arrival of these new “technology” companies happily. The French Government has already passed the law but you can bet that it will be contested. Wonder what will happen in this part of the world if Dubai Taxi starts to see a decline in usage.
