MasterCard today demonstrated a new interactive shopping experience at GITEX, coupled with their MasterPass checkout system.
The first demonstration utilized an app running on an iPad. While a program or movie is being played on a compatible Smart TV, the iPad app recommends products that users see on screen, for example a smartphone being used by a character onscreen or a particular laptop or other device. Users can then add the item to a cart and purchase it by just signing in to their MasterPass account, which allows for one-tap checkout with all of their personal and address details already securely saved.
Another demonstration involved popular tech magazine Wired, which uses MasterPass in its magazine to allow users to directly purchase items from the magazine itself. The “ShopThis!” logo indicates that a particular item can be purchased through the magazine, with the option to add several items to a cart or save them for later viewing.
