Microsoft previously promised real-time editing for its online Office suite, and today the company revealed that the feature is live for Office Web Apps. This allows multiple users who are sharing a document to edit it simultaneously, akin to what you can currently do in Google Docs.
Users who are editing a document will appear in a small list in the upper right hand corner, as well as receiving unique colored tags as they navigate around and edit a file. Any changes that are made are automatically saved on the web, and offline docs can also be edited and synced up automatically. The company also announced that improved features will be coming to its apps, such as find and replace and formatting options for Word, and drag and drop cell placement for Excel.
