Amazon has reportedly purchased Double Helix, a game development studio known for the recent Xbox One title, Killer Instinct.
The information was made public by a joint recuriting event between the two companies scheduled for next week in Los Angeles. Though the financial terms are still unknown, the report claims the acquisiton was for both the studios' intellectual property, and all of its 75 employees.
The purchase strongly hints at Amazon's persual to get into the gaming business. The company has been involved in a long-standing rumor of launching its own Android console, and the acquisition of Double Helix suggest it is looking spurce up the offering when it does. A recent rumor suggested the console will cost under $300, which some might see it as quite steep considering Ouya and NVIDIA Shield, both Android-based, failed to pickup.
