There’s a new king in town. Well at least according to a report published by brand consulting company Interbrand, which placed Apple as the most valuable brand in the world. The crown was previously worn by Coca-Cola, which was Interbrand’s most valuable brand for the past 13 years. The report estimates Apple to be valued at around $98.3 billion, while Coca-Cola sat at $79.2 billion.
Almost as surprising in second place is tech giant Google, which moved up from fourth place last year. Two more tech companies round off the top 5, with IBM and Microsoft sitting at 4th and 5th place respectively.
Other brands worth noting was Facebook, which rose to 52nd position, and Nokia which slipped to 57th. Not surprisingly, BlackBerry disappeared from the list entirely, having been in 93rd position last year.
