Valve has given the Steam Mobile app for the iOS a good lick of polish, bringing the UI inline with the system’s look and feel, i.e., making it flat. The app still retains the dark-grey color scheme associated with Steam’s desktop client, but it does look a lot better than before.
Functionally, the app now supports offline chat, and much like Facebook now, shows whether the friend is accessing the Steam Chat via their smartphone, PC, tablet, or from the Big Picture mode. The app also suggests friends from Facebook, and has updated its push notifications to be more effective.
The revamped Steam Mobile app is now available from iTunes. There is no word if the Android app will be updated with the new features, which hasn’t seen any love since March, 2012. Yes, let me re-iterate that: Valve has released an update for a closed-system while the app on the open-platform is ignored for a year.
